How to pick the right company?
We know there are other pool repair companies you could do business with, but you need to consider the differences between what makes a great pool repair and resurfacing contractor, and a terrible one.
Below are a few things you should ask yourself before having work done on your swimming pool, because if done wrong, you could be facing serious issues with the aftermath of the work done.
Let's start by assuming you have a pool contractor who came out to give you an estimate quote on your project.
Before you ask him for a reference list, the first question you should pose him is, "How many pools did you install last year?" "what pool repair service do they have experience in?"
Pretty basic question, right? At least, at first glance. Every pool estimator will quickly fire off an answer without issue. They fully expect it because it's such a common question. And if the number is 16, they may round up to 20 to artificially boost their numbers a bit.
Now HERE'S the game changer.
After you nod your head in agreement and they give you a smile assuming they've sealed the deal, throw this curveball question to CONFIRM the number they just gave you:
May I SEE your reference list from last year then?
This is the question where the smile may quickly turn into a frown or some other such round-a-bout answer to deter you from getting them, including putting a deadline on accepting their offer. But don't let it distract you. Persist in getting verifiable references. And if it's too much of a hassle, remove yourself from the negotiation table and don't look back.
If, however, they do provide you with references, using the number of pools they installed in the example above of 20; there should be at least 20 or exact.
If they provide you with 10 out of the 20 pools they claimed to have done the year before, they had a LESS than satisfactory rating at only half of their customer base.
That means if you go with that pool remodeling contractor you have a 50% chance of losing your money and time (and possibility your sanity).
Because of the cost, time, investment and expense on both parties, EVERY customer will give a detailed account of that pool resurfacing business experience down to customer service from the start of the project to it's completion.
Don't allow slick words or smooth talk about 'customer confidentiality' or 'privacy agreements' fool you. Happy customers satisfied with their contractors work, staff and treatment of their property will make it known and themselves available to be contacted via phone to verify their testimony.
Keep in mind, you will rarely read a negative review given to you from a pool contractor personally, but if there are secrets to hide you may be able to find them on online review sites via a simple google search.
Perfect Pool Repair are happy to be put to the test and answer any and all questions you may have while addressing every concern confidently to your satisfaction. Give us a call today, put us to the same test using the questions we posed above, and let our results (and happy customers) speak for itself.
